How do I become an Apprentice?
As you start out on your career, we’re sure
you’ve got loads of questions about how it works. . .here are
just a few answers to get you going. Secure yourself an in-salon apprenticeship
and our Educators will be on hand to make sure you know everything you need to
know. Your understanding and confidence is important to us - after all, you could
be our stylists and therapists of the future!
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship involves structured training that lets you learn what it takes
to be a stylist or beauty therapist and get a whole suite of qualifications,
including NVQs, as well as lots of hands-on experience in-salon.
What is work-based learning?
It does what it says on the tin! You’ll be learning your trade
whilst in a job, getting practical experience as well as the best training to
achieve your career goals. No classrooms or colleges to get to!
Will I be paid?
The salon employs you and you’ll be entitled to an
apprenticeship wage as minimum, which at the moment is £2.50 per
hour.
How many hours will I work each week?
The salon owner will let you know your hours – be prepared to
work Saturdays and late evening openings. If you’re under 18,
you are not allowed work more than 40 hours a week.
